Phyllis Lord pursues artistic expression via fine art photography, painting, fiber arts, and multi-media. A life-long student of everything creative, Phyllis obtained her degree from Edinboro University where she concentrated in fine art photography. Working years in both private industry and education offered Phyllis a wide range of philosophies and today, she uses that to share observations of nature and society, which she believes offer and endless supply of curiosities.
Phyllis lives with her husband, Tom, her dog, Ralph, in a house ruled by cats Willie and Cashmere, in Meadville, Pennsylvania. When not creating, you will most likely find her poking around in the woods.
“Photography should offer a new perspective and invite the viewer to, ‘Open your aperture.’” Phyllis Lord is a freelance photographer and multi-media artist. Phyllis Lord’s work portrays her observations of environment, color and light. Themes of nature, transition, whimsy and redemption thread through her work.
Phyllis’ creativity was fanned into fire at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for Art at Bucknell University, where she studied sculpture and theater. Later, Phyllis studied fine art photography under Suzanne Winterberger and earned her Bachelor degree from Edinboro University. Constantly exploring and learning new methods and materials, Phyllis combines various media and loves to repurpose items in ways never originally intended for their use. She believes humans think too much (of themselves) and tries to help her fellow man take himself less seriously whenever possible.
Phyllis currently lives and works in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Meadville Council on the Arts, Vice President of the Northwest Pennsylvania Spinners and Weavers Guild and serves her community wherever she can.
